The fast duo Frédéric Yerly and Manuel Amweg brings the TMG GT86 Cup title back to Switzerland.

The decision in the TMG GT86 Cup, the one-make cup organized by Toyota Motorsport GmbH in Cologne as part of the VLN Championship at the Nürburgring, could not have been more exciting.

Taking into account a strike result, Toyota Swiss Racing went into the final with a three-point lead over Milltek Racing.

After the sixth pole position in nine races, two more points were added. So Manuel Amweg and Frédéric Yerly had to finish at least second if their title rivals won Saturday's final 4-hour race. And that's exactly how it happened.

Controlled to another title win
With risky tactics in changeable conditions, the British team took its fifth win of the season. Manuel Amweg and Frédéric Yerly, who took Thomas Lampert's place this year, finished a safe second in the seven-car class. As a result, the Safenwil-based squad stood firm as Cup winners, as in 2016.

"We wanted to drive a controlled race and stay out of any scuffles. Our drivers did that perfectly. For us, today was about overall victory and not about first place in the race. We knew that second place would be enough for us and acted accordingly. Now we're just happy," said team boss Roland Baumann, who was pleased with the entire team about winning the title again.
