Suzuki Cup: Muzzarelli also wins in Bure

THIRD STREAK Marcel Muzzarelli also won the fourth slalom of the Suzuki Swiss Racing Cup in the Jura on Saturday. This time there was some weather luck involved, because rain started in the second race run. Fastest in the first race run on the 5255 kilometer long course with 110 gates was Fabian Eggenberger. Fastest in the first race run on the 5255-kilometer course with 110 gates was Fabian Eggenberger. But because 20 seconds of penalty time were added to him for two alleged gate errors ("I certainly didn't have them"), Marcel Muzzarelli moved up to first place. With 888 thousandths, Patrick Flammer followed in second place ahead of Simeon Schneider and Sandro Fehr, also just behind.

Brilliant performance with rain setting in
Because light rain started already during the first numbers, only those who had fluffed up so far improved. Some good times were still possible with risk, so that Eggenberger was able to move up to fifth position. Flammer, who had started third, even missed his first time by only 1.5 seconds, while Schneider and Fehr no longer played a role. With a high starting number, Daniel Schneider, on the other hand, managed a fabulous time that still earned him sixth place - his best result to date.

Muzzarelli slightly outperforms
As in Frauenfeld, Marcel Muzzarelli, Patrick Flammer and Simeon Schneider were thus on the podium, with the fast men swapping places this time alongside the now three-time season winner. With 78 points, "Muzzi" extended his lead in the standings over Schneider (65 points), Fehr (64) and Eggenberger (61) to such an extent that he could soon afford to slip up without having to relinquish it.

The analysis of the fourth championship round and the starting position before the second half of the season, which begins on June 15 in Romont, will follow on Wednesday.
