Suzuki Cup: Muzzarelli's masterpiece

VICTORY AND TITLE WIN With his fourth victory of the season at the Ambri Slalom, Marcel Muzzarelli demonstrated in an impressive way that he is the deserved champion of the 2019 Suzuki Swiss Racing Cup. Runner-up is Fabian Eggenberger. A 14th place would have been enough if Fabian Eggenberger had won. But Marcel Muzzarelli gave himself also on the new and by [...]

A 14th place would have been enough in case of a victory of Fabian Eggenberger. But Marcel Muzzarelli was not satisfied with half measures even on the new course, which was smoothly set by the Equipe Bernoise at the Ambri airfield. On the contrary, he gave all 39 competitors another lesson.

Muzzarelli's amazing consistency
In the first run, Simeon Schneider was still almost seven tenths faster, although he did not achieve his second-best training time. After his usual clean first run, Muzzarelli turned up the heat again, risked a little more and relegated the challenger, who was also a little faster, to second place by 34 hundredths. After three second places in a row, his fourth victory of the season and the superior championship were now a fact - an incredible consistency.

Schneider second, but Eggenberger runner-up
Fabian Eggenberger found himself after the first run with a slower time than in his first trial run only in 13th position. For him inexplicable and irritating. Because nothing mattered anymore, he let his Suzuki Swift Sport fly again in the last race run of the year, as one is actually used to from last year's winner in the Suzuki Grand Prix.

And lo and behold, he advanced to third place and ousted Patrick Flammer from Glarus from the podium. With equal points with Schneider, he also snatched the runner-up title due to the higher number of victories (2:1).

Ambri's three best are also in the championship (from left): Simeon Schneider, Marcel Muzzarelli and Fabian Eggenberger.

Seventh individual title for "Mister Cup
But they were all outshone by Marcel Muzzarelli with his world-class performance, as Eggenberger himself describes it. With a lead of 20 points - as much as a victory is worth - the man from Graubünden, who has made his home in Thurgau, wins the toughest Swiss brand trophy of the last few years.

Muzzarelli has already won the Mini Challenge Switzerland and the OPC Challenge three times each in his career, plus two in Team Metropol. This comes with prize money of 5000 Swiss francs plus a 1500-franc tire voucher from series partner Yokohama. No one deserves this more.
