Supercup: Last chance for specialist team
PORSCHE FINALE IN MEXICO The 2019 Porsche Supercup comes to an end this weekend with two races as part of Formula 1. After 2017 and 2018, the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup will hold its season finale at the Mexican GP for the third time. A maximum of 40 points are still up for grabs in two races.
With Michael Ammermüller (D/110 points), Larry ten Voorde (NL/96), Julien Andlauer (F/92) and Ayhancan Güven (TR/88), four drivers from three different teams are still in contention for the championship title. Ammermüller, once active in Formula Renault as a Red Bull Junior with Jenzer Motorsport (2nd Eurocup in 2005), therefore has excellent prospects of clinching the title under his own steam for the third time in succession. In 2007, the 33-year-old was a Red Bull Racing test driver for a year. He has been continuously active in the Supercup since 2012.
Yet another win this season?
Florian Latorre, who is lurking in fifth position with 76 points, also still has a purely mathematical chance. The Frenchman, who drives for the Fach Auto Tech team from Sattel, would have to achieve a top finish in both races and also hope for slips by the entire quartet at the top of the standings.
As this is illusory, the team from Schwyz is aiming for its first win of the season and second or third place in the championship with him. The 22-year-old is the only one of the trio of specialists who already knows the GP circuit in Mexico City. With places 6 and 7 as well as two podiums in the rookie classification, he proved last year that he can handle the Porsche 991-II GT3 Cup from Fach Auto Tech well at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
Everything is possible
Jaxon Evans is also eyeing a podium after his pole position at the previous race in Monza. After the 23-year-old from New Zealand finished third on the Supercup podium for the first time at Spa on the previous Sunday, he was unable to convert this ideal starting position into a top result in Italy (5th). In the interim standings before the finale, Evans is in seventh place, so ideally he could also finish second or third overall, but he could just as easily slip out of the top ten.

Good memories of Mexico
The team's technical and strategic skills were not to be a factor. Two years ago, Matt Campbell won both races with the Swiss car and thus consolidated his third championship place. A year ago, Nick Yelloly still had a chance of winning the title, finishing second in the final race and thus becoming runner-up.
Alex Fach: "We've always managed very well on the track so far, and we want to build on that. A podium at the end of the season is the declared goal. The weekend in Mexico is always something special, the atmosphere at the Autodrom is unique. We're looking forward to it!"
