Sport: New PRC for Joel Burgermeister
MOUNTAIN RACING Joel Burgermeister from Thurgau will be competing in hillclimb races as a factory driver with a newly developed PRC Honda 2.0 from 2018. The Vorarlberg-based racing car manufacturer is thus declaring war on Osella, Norma and Ligier. In his spare time, Joel Burgermeister is preparing his small TracKing Suzuki for use in slaloms and hill climbs in 2018. With a Suzuki engine trimmed for more power (he previously drove an original motorcycle powerplant), the soon-to-be 27-year-old from Thurgau wants to use it to attack in isolated Swiss hillclimbs and slaloms as before.
His main focus, however, is on a new project. The well-known Vorarlberg racing car company PRC (Pedrazza Racing Cars) from Hard on Lake Constance has developed a two-liter lightweight Group E2-SC sports car that will be entrusted to Joel Burgermeister. He will be given factory driver status, but will have to contribute to the costs.
The decision to build this car was made by the two Vorarlbergers Peter Amann and Christoph Lampert. Both negotiated with PRC boss Emanuel Pedrazza about the purchase of a PRC and then decided to buy and use an Osella PA2000 the previous year.
Emanuel Pedrazza: "That hurt. I'm convinced that we can also build a fast two-liter car, as we've already shown in our Sports Car Challenge on the circuit. It's funny that we've now got into business with a Swiss, of whom we think very highly. With him, we want to prove what we can do on the mountain."
First position determination at the Rechbergrennen in Austria
As in most of the competition, a good 300 hp Honda engine will work in the rear. The race debut will be on April 21/22 at the Rechbergrennen, the Austrian EBM round.
PRC will therefore make its first assessment of the situation against international competition and then decide on its further racing program. This is likely to include one or two hill climbs in Switzerland.
The Thurgau native is looking forward to this new challenge.
Joel Burgermeister: "The car is sensationally built. It's great that PRC is giving me this opportunity, and I want to take advantage of it. It will be interesting for me to drive it abroad. Unfortunately Rechberg overlaps with Frauenfeld, where I would have liked to drive the TracKing, but the PRC project now has priority. I hope that I can start with the PRC at races like St-Ursanne and Oberhallau. This also depends on sponsors, who we now want to find together and inspire for this project."
