Slalom Chamblon: Will the champion again? 🎥
FAVORITE Martin Bürki can become champion again at the final of the Swiss Slalom Championship in Chamblon. At the start is also the Suzuki Swiss Racing Cup.
The Chamblon (VD) Slalom will be held on June 25 and 26, 2022. The 38th edition is also the final of the 2022 Swiss Slalom Championship. The title decision has not yet been made.
But there are many indications that serial champion Martin Bürki will win the title again. The Uetendorf garage owner is the only skier still without a loss (after five races). A second place in Chamblon would be enough for his ninth slalom title, the eighth in a row.
The video shows Martin Bürki at the Slalom de Bière this year.
The main thing is not a technical problem
Martin Bürki: "That's true. But anyone who knows me knows that I will try to win this race as well. I've been around for a long time and it's not the first time I've been in this situation. If technology throws a wrench in my plans, which can happen at any time, so be it. I don't worry about it. You can't control something like that."
These are competitors for the title
In addition to Bürki, who competes in the E1 class up to 1600 cm3, four other drivers have theoretical chances of winning the title: Christian Darani (Fiat/E1 up to 2000 cm3), namesake Martin Olivier Bürki (BMW E33, E1 up to 3000 cm3), Nicola Fankhauser (Honda Civic, A up to 2000 cm3) and Philip Egli (Dallara F393, E2 up to 2000 cm3).
This quartet can also still reach 100 points with a fifth fully rated class win. So that in the end the better strike results decide on the medal places. And Bürki, assuming he finishes second in Chamblon in the minimum, has his nose in front.
Who will secure the day's victory this time?
In addition to the title decision, the final on the barracks site in Chamblon will naturally also revolve around the question: Who will secure the last stage victory in 2022? Taking into account the races so far, there are really only two drivers who can be considered for this: Philip Egli from Glarus, who lives in Zurich, and Lukas Eugster from Herisau. On paper, the starting position speaks in favor of Egli. The partly narrow course is perfectly tailored to Egli's narrower Formula 3. In 2019, at the last slalom in Chamblon for the time being, the civil engineer also emerged victorious in a time of 2:57.542 min....
The surprise in the fight for the day's win in Chamblon could be Yves Hängärtner.
Final of the Suzuki Swiss Racing Cup
In addition to the NAT competition on Sunday, June 26, (starting at 7 a.m.), the LOC races will also take place on Saturday on the 4.3-kilometer track. Within the framework of these races, the final of the Suzuki Swiss Racing Cup will also be held. Whereby the championship was already decided in favor of Fabian Eggenberger in Bure, at the penultimate race of 2022. In the only Swiss one-make cup with hybrid technology, it will be exciting to see who takes second and third place: Marcel Muzzarelli (104 points), Sandro Fehr (98) and Patrick Flammer (95).
