A brief, gentle glimpse of the sweaty and drama-filled work of the factory team in the World Rally Championship.

The Škoda Fabia R5 evo, which was homologated in spring 2019, proved to be a winner straight away. The factory team Kalle Rovanperä/Jonne Halttunen thus took the title for driver and co-driver in the WRC 2 Pro category of the World Rally Championship. Together with the Czechs Jan Kopecký/Jan Hloušek, the Finns also collected the points needed to win the manufacturers' classification.

Also ahead in Switzerland and Germany
The WRC 2 title for private drivers went to the Pierre-Louis Loubet/Vincent Landais customer team from France. Teams from the Czech brand based in Mladá Boleslav also won the 2019 FIA European Rally Championship, triumphed in the FIA Africa Rally Championship and the FIA North and Central American Rally Championship.

In addition, a total of 23 national championship titles were achieved. These included one in Switzerland with Amag employee Ivan Ballinari from Ticino and one in Germany with Fabian Kreim. For the Director of Škoda Motorsport, the fact that every season's goal was achieved cannot be taken for granted.

Michal Hrabánek: "This success is only possible thanks to the great support of our Board of Management and the outstanding commitment of the engineers, mechanics and all Škoda employees. Together with us, they make motorsport a successful part of the Škoda DNA. In addition, I am delighted that our customer teams were also so successful."

Focus on promoting young talent and customer teams
The successful factory commitment led to further growth in customer interest in the Fabia R5 and Fabia R5 evo. To date, more than 320 units have been delivered to private teams and importers worldwide across the generations.

Škoda Auto's Technical Development Board gives an outlook on the future after the successful 2019 season.

Christian Strube: "The focus will be even more on promoting young talent and our customer teams. With the reliable, fast and robust Fabia R5 evo, we have the right vehicle to once again be among the front runners on the international rally tracks and, together with our great team, to make the 119th year of our motorsport history another successful one."
