Three of the remaining qualifications for the finale will now be held as races and streamed live in various media - with commentary by three-time Le Mans winner Marcel Fässler, among others.
The first qualifying session of the Swiss Simracing Series took place back in February at the RacingFuel Academy in Horgen. Among the 44 participants, Fredy Eugster, as the reigning champion, also stepped up to defend his title and took the first win of the day on the virtual Grand Prix track of Imola.
External prequalification
After a three-month break, online qualifiers will now follow in June, July and August. They each consist of a four-day pre-qualifying session and a qualifying run on Friday evening. If a driver makes it into the top seven of a category within the first few days, he receives an invitation to the final qualifying run on Friday.
The virtual circuits Brands Hatch GP, Nürburgring GP and Spa-Francorchamps will be raced. Participants can complete the races of the online qualifying rounds from home in the home simulator or in one of the racing centers. The online qualifiers will be streamed by RacingFuel Academy, UPC MySports and esports.ch and will also be presented live on Star TV and esports.ch.
Partnership with Porsche
After the online qualifiers, the qualifiers will be held live in the last quarter of the year at the Zurich Game Show (September 25-27, Messe Zürich) and Fantasy Basel (November 13-15, Messe Basel).
As last year, Porsche is the official partner of the Swiss Simulation Racing Championship. The participants therefore drive in the virtual Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.
Season finale on St. Nicholas Day
The best three drivers in each category from each qualifying round will compete against each other in the season finale on December 6 at the Porsche Center Zurich in Schlieren. For the first time, championship titles will also be awarded in the Ladies and Ü40 categories.
By winning the Swiss Championship, the overall winner of the Swiss Simracing Series will qualify for the next FIA Motorsport Games to compete against the world's best sim racers in October 2021.
