The RacingFuel Academy in Horgen was the first of four venues for the qualifying rounds for the first Swiss championship of the 2019 Swiss Simracing Series. After three-time Le Mans winner Marcel Fässler was able to give the simulators a uniform set-up, it was down to the nitty-gritty.

Virtual obs prevail over the real racers
SIM pros and current or former racers such as Felix Hirsiger (5th), Julien Apothéloz (6th) and Gustavo Xavier (11th) put up a fight for the best lap time on the virtual GP circuit of the Nürburgring. At the end of the day, pro iRacer Fredy Eugster (24) was the first finalist with a super time of 1'58.417.

With a lead of around half a second over runner-up Manuel Waibel (29), he took the day's victory. Manuel Sudau (32) and Reto Hartmann (40) complete the quartet that will have to face twelve other finalists on the sidelines of the Swiss E-Prix in Bern on June 22. To ensure equal opportunities there, the route to be driven will not be announced until shortly before the start.

Winner of the first qualifying: Manuel Waibel (r.) and Manuel Sudau were powerless against Fredy Eugster (m.).

Prizes that promote personal commitment and sport
The first Swiss simracing champion will receive prize money that can only be redeemed and paid out in connection with an activity in real automobile racing. In addition, the first-place winners receive non-cash prizes or exclusive participation in a racing license course.

Participation is open to everyone. The minimum age for participation is 15 years and a height of 1.60 meters. The entry fee is 50 Swiss francs including a 30-minute qualifying session. The number of participants per qualifying is limited to a maximum of 70 starters.

Two more eliminations in German-speaking Switzerland
The other three qualifying rounds will take place on Easter Sunday in Lausanne, on May 25 at the Porsche Center Basel and on June 22 at the RacingFuel Academy in Bern, where the final will also be held.
