Simon Trummer: Focus on Europe 🎥

NO MORE IMSA RACES FOR THE PRESENT Simon Trummer cannot continue his sports car season in the USA at the moment because of the stricter travel conditions. Instead, the man from Berne will be seeing more action in Europe. For Simon Trummer it remains for the time being with the participation in the 24 hours of Daytona. For Simon Trummer, participation in the 24 Hours of Daytona will remain for the time being. There, the man from Kandertal finished second in the LMP2 class with his teammates in January.

After leading for a long time, the potential class win slipped through their fingers in the final phase due to a suspension repair. So well positioned for 2020, Trummer looked forward with confidence to the next races after the long Corona forced break in global motorsport.

Thanks to sportsman visa to the USA...
His next outing since Daytona would have been July 18 at the new Cadillac Grand Rprix of Sebring. A new replacement race on the calendar that will go over the usual distance of 2 hours and 40 minutes.

But the stricter travel conditions put a spanner in the works for the only IMSA regular from Switzerland. Thanks to a sportsman's visa and a health certificate, he would have been allowed to enter the U.S. without first going into quarantine.

It is uncertain when the Swiss will return to action with the Oreca LMP2 in the USA.

... but threatening quarantine in Switzerland
But vice versa, this is no longer possible since the recent decisions of the FOPH. Anyone entering Switzerland from the USA must be quarantined here.

Simon Trummer: "There would certainly have been ways and means to get around this. For example, by flying back and entering the country via Germany. But sooner or later this would certainly have been noticed, and therefore I don't want to risk anything illegal with the corresponding consequences."

Hope for the big autumn races
As long as these measures are not relaxed, which is hardly to be expected in view of the high infection rates in the USA in the next few weeks, Simon Trummer will just have to do without the IMSA sports car races in the USA.

Secretly, he hopes to at least complete the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta in October and then the 12-hour Sebring race, which has been postponed from mid-March to November.

Algarve Pro Racing is fielding two Oreca LMP2s. The line-up shows the team of Simon Trummer.

ELMS and Le Mans with team from Portugal
However, he will remain in the LMP2 category. In the 2020 European Le Mans Series (ELMS), Trummer will drive an Oreca 07 Gibson for Algarve Pro Racing.

He would not have been able to contest the first race due to the clash of dates with the IMSA at Sebring. Trummer will also be on the grid with the team from Portugal at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on September 19-20. The most important partners are Goodyear and the Swiss watch manufacturer B.R.M.

The ELMS begins on July 14/15 with testing at Le Castellet, followed by the first of five races on the weekend of July 19 at the same circuit. The current teaser draws attention to this.

With Swiss Ferrari at the Nürburgring
One week after Le Mans, the next 24-hour race at the Nürburgring is on the agenda for the long-time GP2 driver with Octane126. Before that, the team from Wallisellen will take part in the rounds of the Nürburgring Endurance Series with its Ferrari 488 GT3 EVO, as it did on June 26.

On the coming weekend of July 11 and 12, two 4-hour races will take place in a row - a novelty and at the same time good practice for the marathon in September. So Simon Trummer will get enough riding in without the long trips to the USA.

This coming weekend, Simon Trummer and Octane126 are facing two endurance races at the Nürburgring with the Ferrari.
