Sauber F1 Team: Poor yield in Brazil
Good prospects, but still without success: Despite a solid qualifying result, the Sauber F1 Team missed out on the points at the Brazilian Grand Prix. Felipe Nasr's home advantage didn't help either. "A disappointing result, especially considering the starting position and the speed we had," Monisha Kaltenborn summed up. The team boss and her team from Hinwil look back on a weekend in which much more could have been achieved.
Sauber driver Marcus Ericsson didn't beat around the bush after the race: "That was probably my worst race start in my Formula 1 career so far. First I had spinning wheels and then I dropped back almost to the end of the field," said the Swede. A spin through no fault of his own thanks to Pastor Maldonado and a resulting stop ruined Ericsson's race altogether.
The 25-year-old Swede finished in 16th place, while teammate Felipe Nasr saw the chequered flag in 13th. The Brazilian drew a modest conclusion after his home race: "The start was quite good. I was able to gain positions after the start, but I wasn't able to hold them afterwards. So it was just one of those days where you fight but aren't rewarded with a point."
Now all hopes rest on the season finale in Abu Dhabi. At the race on November 29, the team hopes to forget the setbacks of the past races. "The track in Abu Dhabi should suit us better again," says Monisha Kaltenborn optimistically.
