Roman Grosjean: Life after Formula 1 🎥
FUTURE Lamborghini factory driver Romain Grosjean talks about his life after Formula 1 as the countdown to the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA Sports Car Championship with the LMDh hybrid is underway.
The former Formula 1 driver and current Lamborghini factory driver, who privately drives a Lamborghini Urus (gallery, left), is preparing for the new challenge as the central figure of Lamborghini's 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship program. In two Lamborghini films, the Swiss-French racer talks about the exhilarating energy of endurance racing and the anticipation of Lamborghini's newly announced LMDh, as well as the impact the events at the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix had on his life and personal philosophy.
The 36-year-old Geneva native, who now lives in Miami, made 179 race starts in his Formula 1 career as a regular driver in the nine seasons from 2012 to 2020. He has been competing in the American Indy Car Series since 2021. He made his debut for Lamborghini's Squadra Corse in a Huracán GT3 Evo2 at the 24 Hours of Daytona in January this year.
3.8-liter biturbo V8 with 680 hp
Grosjean is playing a key role in the rapidly progressing development of Lamborghini's eagerly awaited LMDh hybrid racing prototype. The car is powered by a new 3.8-liter biturbo V8 whose output is limited by regulations to 680 hp. Grosjean reveals, "I love endurance racing. When I moved to the U.S., I really wanted to race at Daytona, and thanks to Lamborghini, the opportunity came up. When you're 20, all you care about is being the fastest. Now I appreciate having teammates. It's about compromise and making sure everyone is happy."
Tough endurance championship
In addition to the FIA World Endurance Championship, the LMDh will also compete in the IMSA Weathertech Sports Car Championship in North America. This represents Lamborghini's biggest involvement in motorsport to date. It follows three class wins in the GTD category at the 24 Hours of Daytona, two consecutive victories at the 12 Hours of Sebring and other successes. Now the hypercar class of the world's two toughest endurance championships beckons, and Grosjean is one of the drivers taking a leading role.
