Roggwil: Helm repeats last year's victory
INDOOR RACE WITHOUT FINAL RUN The annual fun race at the Race-Inn Roggwil came to an end without any final runs. The victory of Andreas Helm in the TracKing-Suzuki was nevertheless undisputed. After the practice and qualifying runs, the numerous spectators at the Race-Inn Roggwil were entertained by drifters. Unfortunately, there was an incident in which the vehicle of a cross-driver was damaged and as a result the water cooler emptied along with the antifreeze.
The helpers at the kart track did everything to clean the track. However, the surface proved to be so slippery in one section that safety could no longer be guaranteed. So race director Sepp Ludin stopped the race before the start of the final runs, especially since it was about nothing else than a ranking and trophies for the three fastest. The ranking was based on the best lap times from the qualification.
Close to the record of Ianniello
The fastest was undisputed anyway and, like most of the 16 competitors in total, glad of the break. Andreas Helm circumnavigated the 630-meter indoor kart track in the two qualifying runs in 38.783 and 38.874 seconds (best time from four laps in each case). Last year, the Otelfinger took the day's victory with a VW Polo G60, now with the TracKing Suzuki (180 hp, 500 kilos) acquired from Joel Burgermeister.
Andy Helm: "It wouldn't have been worth it. The risk would have been too great, especially as I need the car next Sunday in the Frauenfeld slalom. The abort is a pity in that I would certainly have been even faster and perhaps could have beaten Bruno Ianniello's track record in the Lancia."
Legends Car and Sports Car in the places of honor
In the addition, Helm with 77.657 seconds was thus almost four seconds ahead of "Roggwil rookie" Urs Böhlen in a Legends Car (40.393 in the second qualifying run) and 4.2 seconds ahead of Pascal Fritz in a Crosslé 9S. Pascal Sahli in the second Legends Car, Hannes Roth in his speeding bathtub (with 600cc Yamaha engine) and Dennis Wolf in a Renault Clio RS as the fastest touring car driver also followed in the next places.
2020 again on Easter Monday
The indoor car race, which used to be held on April 1, will again be held on Easter Monday in 2020. This falls next year on April 13.
