Racing reunion: 90,000 fans celebrated Porsche 🎥
HISTORY, PRESENT, FUTURE The seventh edition of the Porsche Rennsport Reunion was a complete success. Over 90,000 fans attended the largest gathering of racing icons and Porsche enthusiasts in Laguna Seca.
Highlights on the four days of the event included the world premiere of the Porsche 911 GT3 R rennsport, demo laps of the Porsche 963 hybrid prototype and the all-electric GT4 e-Performance, and races with historic motorsport vehicles and tractors.
Ayesha Coker, Director of Marketing Porsche Cars North America: "Hosting the seventh Rennsport Reunion was a great pleasure. The ingredients were just perfect: legendary drivers from then and now, great cars, plus brand new content like Esports to appeal to a young audience."
Music, workshops and Transformers
Historic and new racing cars created excitement on the track with the famous Corkscrew. Numerous presentations, technology workshops, autograph sessions with Porsche legends, music concerts and giant Transformers figures rounded off the program.
One of the big highlights was the unveiling of the new Porsche 911 GT3 R racing car. The vehicle, limited to 77 units and based on the successful GT3 race car 911 GT3 R, completed two runs at Laguna Seca Raceway on each of the four days of the event. The spectacular vehicle designed to run on race tracks away from motorsport competitions produces up to 620 hp and is consistently designed to use e-fuels.
Show laps with hybridPrototype 963
The racing reunion also served as a tune-up for the finale of the 2023 IMSA Weather Tech Sportscar Championship. The 963 of the Porsche Penske Motorsport factory team completed daily show laps at the very venue where the hybrid prototype had clinched its first pole position in May this year. At the wheel of the 700-plus hp race car, factory drivers Dane Cameron and Felipe Nasr alternated with local hero Patrick Long.
