Renault: The wolf changes its territory

After six seasons in the Renault Clio Classic Cup, Denis Wolf decides to change classes. In the first four years, the soon-to-be 24-year-old from Bern was runner-up behind Thomas Zürcher, whose successor he succeeded as champion in a Clio III in 2017 and 2018.
Formula Renault instead of Cupra TCR
In 2019, Wolf will no longer defend this title and will instead compete in a Formula Renault 2.0. He got a taste for it during tests last November at the Slovakia Ring.
Denis Wolf: "I was looking for a new challenge. It was always my desire to find out how a race car drives."
Wolf would have gladly accepted the great and tempting offer from Jörg Schori to drive his Cupra TCR in Italy. Nevertheless, an international season seemed too costly for him.
Apprenticeship year with slalom starts
Now the automotive mechatronics engineer and diagnostician has the chance to take over the Formula Renault Caparo from Daltec Racing, formerly driven by Christof von Grünigen and Steve Brodbeck in the European Cup and other races, in his home garage in Heimberg.
Denis Wolf: "I still have a lot to learn. That's why 2019 is an apprenticeship year for me. For this reason, I'm only competing in the Swiss slaloms for now, although I'd also be interested in the hill climbs."
In search of sponsors
The car is in original condition, i.e. with a 208 hp Renault 2.0 engine and seven-speed transmission. This means that there are no more victories in the E2-2000, but Denis Wolf still has his sights set on goals.
Denis Wolf: "Depending on the slalom and how I feel about driving, you can still be in the top third with it. Lukas Eugster demonstrated this in 2018."
Some of the existing sponsors have already agreed to support Wolf on the road ahead. To be optimally prepared, he is looking for additional sponsors. The youngster would also like to include one or two circuit races for the Drexler Automotive Formula Cup (formerly Remus Cup) in his annual program.
Clio is rented
Wolf has not yet been able to sell his well-maintained Clio RS III, but there is interest on the part of two of last year's juniors from the Berg-SM to take turns driving it.
