Renault Clio V: racing car for all occasions
It's not just the Junior Championship that will be contested with the new Clio V from 2021. There will also be a new Swiss Clio Trophy. This will also score points in the Rallye-SM. Teams and drivers who decide to buy or rent a new Renault Clio V according to Rally5 regulations will therefore [...]
Teams and drivers who decide to buy or rent a new Renault Clio V according to Rally5 regulations are therefore killing three birds with one stone. In theory, they can compete for three rally championships with separate points and prize money.
For Junior-SM and new Swiss Trophy
As already reported, the Swiss Rally Championship Junior for drivers born in 1994 or later will be held uniformly with this model from this year. Until now, it was possible to drive with any model according to R2 and R1 regulations.
From 2021, there will also be a Clio Trophy Swiss. In contrast to the Junior Championship, this will also be open to foreign licensees. It replaces the Alps Trophy, which was held with the Clio IV R.S. from 2015 to 2019. It was cancelled in 2020.
Unbroken commitment from Renault Switzerland
The Junior-SM and Trophy Swiss are supported by Renault Sport Racing from France and Renault Suisse in Urdorf. So the Swiss importer continues to generously support the continuation of Swiss rallying - bravo!
In the three rounds of the Swiss Rally Championship, the Clio teams - like the Juniors and Alps Trophy participants so far - can also score points for the National Championship. Drive once, win three times, so to speak.
Season start May 27
After the cancellation of the Critérium Jurassien from mid-April, the season will start from May 27 to 29 with the 17th Rallye du Chablais centered in Aigle. The event, which also has an FIA predicate and is for the first time part of the Tour European Rally for modern and historic rally cars, is to be staged in Vaud and neighboring Valais without the admission of spectators if necessary.
Reason for confidence
Organizer and promoter of the Junior-SM, the Clio Trophy Swiss and the Trophée Michelin Suisse (for all registered teams with Michelin tires, no matter with which vehicle), is still Brice Zufferey from Valais with his company BZ Consult Sàrl.
According to Zufferey, the interest in the new Clio V Rally5 is so great that a nice turnout can be expected in these classifications.
Technical data on the new Clio V in Rally, Cup (for circuit racing) and Rallycross versions are available in this Brochure . More information about the Clio Trophy Swiss can be found under the following link.
