A short film shows historical scenes of various Renault cups of the past and the assembly of the Clio RSR Cup at the factory in Dieppe (F).

The last international race before the start of measures to contain the corona virus was the Rally Mexico in mid-March, which was abandoned prematurely. This was the debut of the Clio RSR Rally based on the new Renault Clio V.

Five Mexican teams competed with the model that had been homologated in the Rally5 class only eleven days earlier. Only Gerardo Rejón/Mauricio Pimentel came through to take class victory.

The premiere of the Clio R.S.R. Rally in Mexico was a success. The new model has not yet been used for racing in Europe.

Not much heavier than a ton
Based on the new FIA regulations, the turbo engine with 1330 cubic capacity delivers around 180 hp and 300 Nm to the wheels. The Sachs clutch, the Sadev ST85 sequential 5-speed manual transmission and the ZF limited slip differential ensure optimum power flow. The kerb weight of the new Cup vehicle is just 1050 kilograms.

Mission in three European championships...
For well-known reasons, the Clio RSR Cup has not yet been used for circuit racing. In the home country of France, in Great Britain and Spain, this year's national Renault Cups will be held with it in 2020 at partly joint events, as will the Clio Open, which was previously only scheduled as part of the French GP.

The new Clio RSR Cup has been delivered to the first customers after months of testing. Only they are not allowed to drive it yet...

... and in the Central Europe Cup
In the Clio Cup Central Europe, which is mainly made up of drivers from Germany, Switzerland, the Benelux countries and Eastern Europe, the new Cup Clio is eligible to start and score points alongside the previous Clio RS IV with 1600cc turbo engines. The overall winner will receive a brand-new race-ready Clio RSR Cup worth €37,900 for racing in 2021.

Swiss spearhead wants to win the new Clio
Andreas Stucki, the brilliant Open winner in the run-up to the German GP in Hockenheim in 2019 and third overall in the Central Europe Cup, still wants to tackle the season, which will probably not start until late summer, with the Clio RS IV. The St. Gallen native does not intend to buy the new racing model until next year if he fails to win the title at the umpteenth attempt.

Switzerland's Reto Wüst and Andreas Stucki chase Czech Tomas Pekar in the 2019 Clio race in Most (CZ). The new models will also be allowed to compete in this field in 2020.
