Ralph Boschung: Back in Formula 2
COMEBACK SOON IN BAHRAIN Switzerland will also have a driver in Formula 2 in 2021. Ralph Boschung from Valais returns to Campos Racing. Unexpectedly, there is his comeback already this weekend in Bahrain. Presumably, the last two Formula 2 races this year next weekend in Bahrain will also be the last for Louis Delétraz. A [...]

This year's last two Formula 2 races in Bahrain next weekend will probably also be the last for Louis Delétraz. The Geneva driver will probably not do himself a fifth season even if he fails to achieve the long-awaited victory at the last attempt.
Instead, Delétraz sees his future heading in the direction of endurance racing and GT racing. He had his first good experiences in both disciplines this year.
Three different teams
Switzerland will nevertheless certainly be represented in the second highest FIA race car class. Ralph Boschung has already signed a contract with Campos Racing. The 23-year-old from Monthey completed his first Formula 2 season with the Spaniards in 2017, which only brought him three placings in the points.
For 2018, Boschung changed teams, but with seven countable results, the yield was not much greater. In 2019, he tried his luck elsewhere again, but did not compete for the entire season. This year he took a compulsory break to raise the budget for 2021.
In terms of speed, a podium would have been possible over the years, but he often lacked the necessary racing luck. He is now looking for this again in 2021 with Campos Racing.
Campos driver Aitken ahead of GP debut...
With the Spaniards, Briton Jack Aitken achieved two victories and several top classifications in 2018, which was enough for fifth place overall. In the season now drawing to a close, however, the Briton has only managed two third-place finishes at Silverstone and eight other classifications in the points.
It didn't do him any harm: Aitken replaces his compatriot George Russell at Williams F1 this weekend at the Sakhir GP in Bahrain. Russell, for his part, gets to take over the Mercedes from world champion Lewis Hamilton, who had to go into isolation due to his Covid 19 infection.

... which allows Boschung to make an early comeback in Bahrain
So it's now up to the Swiss to do at least as well. Especially since nothing is changing in the technical regulations, as the existing 2018 Dallara F2s with their 3.4-liter V6 turbocharged engines from Megachrome (620 hp) are being retained.
And Boschung can already prove himself next weekend in Bahrain, where he will replace Jack Aitken. With him and Delétraz, there will therefore be two Swiss drivers on the grid at the F2 season finale, as was the case last time in 2019.
Ralph Boschung: "I am happy and proud to return to Campos Racing. I have great respect for this team and think we can achieve a lot. I thank Adrian Campos for putting his trust in me and my partners. For the first time in my career I had a secure contract so early. I can now concentrate fully on the sport."
This deal is made possible by his new partner Raphaëlle Lota with her Geneva-based companies Casa Andrea and L by Raphaëlle and, as before, the Lausanne-based company MedXCell.
Adrian Campos was himself a rather mediocre racing driver for many years, with stints in Formula 3, Formula 3000 and Formula 1 (Minardi). His own team has existed since 1997 and is based in Valencia.
