For the deployment of its Ford Fiesta WRC, Malcolm Wilson's M-Sport Ford World Rally Team in England benefits from more extensive financial and technical support from the Ford Group's performance organization. The turbo four-wheeler powered by a good 380 hp EcoBoost gasoline direct injection engine is based on the successful Ford Fiesta series produced in Cologne-Niehl.
Thanks to Ford's increased commitment, the development of the Fiesta WRC can be driven forward. This is also one of the reasons why world champions Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia, who are being courted by other teams, have extended their contracts with M-Sport for another year.
In two weeks the Rally Monte Carlo 2018 starts
The second Ford Fiesta WRC will be driven by up-and-coming rally talent Elfyn Evans together with co-driver Daniel Barritt. Evans won his home race in Wales in November 2017, which also marked his first WRC victory in the World Rally Championship.
"Ford's 20-year partnership with Team M-Sport has delivered impressive success at almost every level of rallying - we are very proud of that," emphasized Mark Rushbrook, global director of Ford Motorsport.
"The Ford Fiesta is the first choice for rally drivers around the world. Last year, we supported M-Sport in the development of the new Fiesta WRC, and this commitment was crowned by the team winning all three WRC titles. We are delighted to be able to support the team with even greater commitment this season."
The 2108 WRC season begins from January 25 to 28 with the Rally Monte Carlo (www.acm.mc).
