The teaser is intended to whet the appetite for the premiere of the RX World Championship at the Nürburgring.
It doesn't always have to be the Nordschleife - and it doesn't have to be an ordinary circuit race either. Next year, the FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy is coming to the Nürburgring for the first time at vacation time. On the weekend of August 1 and 2, visitors can look forward to many races with up to six ultra-fast vehicles each.
Atmosphere like in the stadium
The course for the wild riders will be laid out in the Müllenbach loop of the Grand Prix circuit. The grandstands run around the track like a stadium. From here, spectators can follow the action around the entire course.
The RX Specials are pure powerhouses. With over 600 hp under the hood, they make it from 0 to around 100 km/h in 1.9 seconds and are thus even faster than Formula 1 cars. This means that the drivers are anything but squeamish about each other. Mutual contact is part and parcel of the changing surface of gravel and asphalt.
Suspense until the finish line
The races in the World Rallycross Championship fascinate with a mixture of elimination races right up to the final, relentless battles for position and suspense right up to the last of the maximum six laps per race. The fact that you don't know who will win until the very end is also due to the so-called Joker Lap. This is an additional section of track that every car has to pass once in the race. When this makes sense, however, is a tactical decision for the driver.
