Points chase: podium finishes for Swiss pilots 🎥
STRONG PERFORMANCE Swiss jubilation at Le Castellet: Raffaele Marciello once again proved his class at the 1000-kilometer race. Miklas Born also delivered a strong performance with his first GT3 podium.
At the second round of the Endurance GT World Challenge in Le Castellet, there was double cause for celebration from a Swiss perspective. Overall victory in the 6-hour race was secured by the Mercedes AMG Gt3 with the #88, on which, in addition to Jules Gounon and Timur Boguslavskiy, the Swiss Raffaele Marciello in particular played a decisive role in the success. The man from Ticino put the car on pole position, took over in position 5 and then drove out an unchallenged victory.
Miklas Born celebrated second place
Patric Niederhauser was also on the podium - in third place. Due to a five-second penalty (track limits), which was only imposed after the race and the podium ceremony, he had to settle for a thankless fourth place. Miklas Born, on the other hand, had reason to rejoice. Tenth overall, he celebrated his first podium finish in GT3 as the runner-up in the Gold category.
Miklas Born: "To have clinched my first podium in GT3 racing here at Paul Ricard is a great feeling. After a rather difficult start to the season in Monza, we were competitive throughout the weekend, which we also proved with second starting position in class."
Edoardo Mortara ensured points
There was also a ray of hope for Edoardo Mortara in the Formula E World Championship. With positions 6 and 8 at the round in Jakarta/Indonesia, the Geneva native achieved his best result of the season so far. The upward trend in Team Maserati was underlined by teammate Maximilian Günther's first win of the season.
Edoardo Mortara: "We had a few technical problems in the second race, but the upward trend is clearly visible."
Zhou Guanyu scored important points
Alfa Romeo F1 Team Kick scored two World Championship points in the Constructors' Championship at the Spanish Grand Prix. At the same time, Zhou Guanyu also added two points to his personal points tally with a flawless race.
Valtteri Bottas' race was affected shortly after the start. Debris on the track damaged the underbody of his race car. Bottas eventually reached the finish line in 19th place.
