Porsche: Ten victorious years
GOODBYE The Porsche GT team's two 911 RSRs bid farewell to the GTE-Pro class of the FIA World Endurance Championship WEC on November 12 in Sakhir, Bahrain, in a special design.
At the finale in Bahrain, the two 911s display many striking colors from ten years with the GT race car - from the classic Porsche motorsport design to the popular Pink Pig. The two 911 RSRs entered by Manthey feature stripes in red, blue, pink, black, gold, and gray on the front, side, and rear wing in addition to the basic color white.
Goodbye is emblazoned on the windshield. The 16 class victories achieved so far since 2013 are immortalized on the fenders of the two 911s, and the roof bears the names of all the drivers from ten years of factory service.
Race win is the goal at the race in Bahrain
Thomas Laudenbach, Head of Porsche Motorsport: "The GTE-Pro class in the World Endurance Championship will come to an end at the end of the 2022 season. So this will be our last appearance with the factory team's 911 RSR. For this special occasion, our designers have created a livery that beautifully depicts the history and successes from ten years. And the crowning glory is to follow in Bahrain: We're targeting race victory and winning the manufacturers' and drivers' titles."
2023 with the 963 in the World Endurance Championship
The 62nd race since 2013 marks the end of the factory team's history in the GTE-Pro class: The category will be discontinued next year. However, the Porsche 911 RSR will continue to compete in the FIA WEC. In 2023, customer teams will field the proven race car in the GTE-Am class.
Porsche will be competing in the World Endurance Championship and the North American IMSA Weather Tech Sportscar Championship under the Porsche Penske Motorsport banner from the new season with the 963 model, and aims to race for overall victories at the classics at Le Mans, Daytona and Sebring.
