In total, the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E team, like the other participants, had 15 test days between January 1 and October 1, 2019. This was followed in mid-October by the official Formula E test at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo near Valencia. There, the twelve teams competing in season 6 met directly for the first time.
First location determination
The program consisted largely of tests of different vehicle settings and simulations of qualifying and the race. On this occasion, Neel Jani completed a total of 119 laps and thus around 368 kilometers.
The second Formula E regular, André Lotterer, completed 154 laps for a total of 476 kilometers. For the first time, the team had the opportunity to test and optimize the operational processes live at a race track with both Porsche 99X Electric cars.
Neel Jani: "The first official tests were very important for us, because we were able to check the stability for the first time. Of course, there are some parallels between the Formula E and LMP1 projects that are useful to us today. We already worked a lot with the simulator in the LMP1 project, which is now a major part of our work in Formula E as well. That helped us a lot in preparing for the test days. In addition, we were able to take many employees from the LMP1 team with us to the Formula E project, which is also benefiting us now."
Season start in one week
The first two races of the 2019/20 FIA Formula E will be held in Saudi Arabia on November 22 and 23.
