Porsche: First laps with the fast Gen3 🎥

The eagerly awaited rollout of the Gen3 was an important step into the future of Formula E for Porsche. On the test track at the Weissach development center, works driver Pascal Wehrlein completed the first laps with the vehicle that will be used by the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E team in the world championship.
The driver on the first race: "That was a very interesting day and a great experience to drive our new Gen3 car for the first time. It feels great and I'm looking forward to testing it at full power very soon. The first impressions were already very good and whet my appetite for more."
Big step in sustainability
The Gen3 race cars are the lightest, most powerful and most efficient electric racers ever built. Developed specifically for Formula E's street circuits, they also take a big step forward in sustainability.
For example, more than 40 percent of the energy consumed in the race is generated via regenerative braking, and the carbon fiber material used for body construction comes in part from Gen2.
One drive train on each of the two axles
The Gen3 cars are the first formula race cars with a powertrain on each of the two axles. 250 kW is supplied at the front and 350 kW at the rear, together more than twice as much as in the Gen2 cars. Charging times will also be greatly reduced. With the new ultra-high-speed chargers, 600 kW can be recharged almost twice as fast as with the best chargers currently available.
The Porsche Formula E team is contesting its third season with the Porsche 99X Electric. The team from Weissach celebrated its greatest success to date with a double victory by Pascal Wehrlein and André Lotterer in the Porsche 99X Electric on February 12, 2022 in Mexico.
