Porsche Cup: Overall winner dominates to the end

Felix Hirsiger continues to triumph: The newly crowned GT3 Cup champion in the Porsche Sports Cup Suisse also wins both races at the season finale in Misano.

What dominance: Felix Hirsiger, who was crowned overall winner of the GT3 Cup class in Mugello (I) back in September, also won both races of the Sprint Challenge at the season finale of the Porsche Sports Cup Suisse (PSCS) in Misano. However, the Zurich-born driver had to work particularly hard for these successes: In qualifying, he opted for the wrong strategy on a drying track and therefore only started the first race from the second row.

The pole position for both races was secured by veteran Gregor Burkard. The Sportec Racing boss had to let Matteo Segre and Hirsiger pass him in the first race - at the finish line, the top three were only 3.8 seconds apart. Swiss driver Marc Arn, who had started twelfth, was delighted with fourth place. In the second race, Burkard maintained the lead until the seventh lap, when he was overtaken by Hirsiger and Segre. Fourth place in the second race went to the German Christof Langer.

Further double victories
There was also a double victory in the Open GT group: Jörg Dreisow won both races in a current Porsche 911 GT3 R on the 4.226-kilometer World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. In the first race, Philippe Menotti finished second in the previous model, which allowed him to prevail in the battle with Patrick Dinkeldein for the class win.

In the 911 GT3 Cup race cars with ABS, Schorsch Wörle prevailed twice against Sebastian Schmitt. Marcelo Tomasoni had already been crowned champion in this class. The new champion in the Porsche Drivers Competition is Kevin Lattion. Things also went according to plan for Tomas Guedes in Misano: The Portuguese driver took his ninth and tenth wins of the season in the races of the various Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport versions. This secured him the title in this class.

A highlight at the end

Richard Feller, Head of the Porsche Sports Cup Suisse, is delighted with a successful end to the season in Misano. "Congratulations to all the title winners! In beautiful late summer weather, we were once again able to round off this year's Porsche Sports Cup Suisse with a highlight. Misano once again proved to be the perfect stage for our season finale."

A two-hour night race in Misano once again marked the end of the current PSCS season. It does not count towards any championship classification, but traditionally attracts many racing professionals as guest drivers. Patrick Dinkeldein and Marco Seefried took the win "The endurance race at night was a great way to end the season," said a delighted Feller. "Now we're already looking ahead again, because next year is just around the corner and we want to be optimally prepared."

For the last time this season, the Porsche Sports Cup Suisse (PSCS) took the chequered flag in the final night race. Here's to another year of hot racing action in 2025!
