Nürburgring: Jasmin drives in the women's team 🎥

GIRLS ONLY At the weekend, the official starting signal was given for the project of an all-female team at the 2019 Nürburgring 24-hour race. Jasmin Preisig is one of the four drivers on a VW Golf TCR, with Rahel Frey acting as coach. All-female teams in endurance racing are not new. In the project under the motto "Girls Only! All-female teams in endurance racing are nothing new. In the project under the motto "Girls Only! Ready to rock the Green Hell" project, not only are the drivers female, but the entire team will be made up entirely of women. That means everything from the team manager to the engineers and mechatronics technicians. The field of action is the Green Hell, aka the Nürburgring-Nordschleife.

Jasmin becomes exceptionally unfaithful to Opel
Two female drivers have been selected for these races in a VW Golf GTI TCR. One is Jasmin Preisig from Schwellbrunn. The woman from Appenzell has already competed in several races on the Nordschleife with Opel Astra OPC and TCR and successfully survived them.

Jasmin has been racing in the private Opel Astra TCR in the ADAC TCR Germany since mid-2016. Her best result this year was an eleventh place - on the Nürburgring GP circuit. For this unique project, which will make her better known as a racing driver, she is allowed to be unfaithful to her house brand for once.

Jasmin Preisig actually only drives her own brand of Opel. For this project, she is making an exception.

The German Carrie Schreiner has been confirmed as the second driver. She won the GT3 class title in the DMV GTC on an Audi R8 and won the Super Trofeo Middle East on a Lamborghini. In two weeks, she will also be able to take part in the Formula E rookie test in Saudi Arabia with the HWA electric race car.

WS Racing from nearby Trierweiler is behind the project. Managing directors Thorsten Willems and Thomas Rehlinger had been harboring this idea for a long time. Nicole Willems, the wife of the team boss, provided the impetus in spring 2018 to put it into practice for 2019. She will now also act as team manager.

First VLN, then 24 Hours of Nürburgring
In preparation, the first three VLN races will be contested in spring 2019. This will be followed by the qualifying race for the Nürburgring 24 Hours. At the marathon itself, which takes place on the same weekend as Formula E in Bern (June 15/16), the girls-only team will undoubtedly make a high-profile appearance.

Audi customer sports works driver Rahel Frey from Solothurn was recruited as coach and mentor.

Rahel Frey: "I think it's great that projects like this exist. They really step on the gas at WS Racing. The media coverage will be enormous. The Nordschleife is a challenge, and the competition in the TCR class will also be fierce. But WS Racing has a lot of experience at the Nürburgring, so this will certainly be a good and interesting thing."

Not only the women, but also their VW Golf GTI TCR will be visually striking.

Advertising for tire company Giti
The project is supported by Giti Tire as main sponsor and Volkswagen as communications partner. Giti Tire is a tire manufacturer based in Singapore and wants to demonstrate its competence in the European and especially the German tire market in a competitive environment with this commitment.

In June 2017, the company received original equipment approval for the Seat Ateca, Škoda Karoq and VW T-Roc. Due to Giti's partnership with the Volkswagen Group, WS Racing decided to purchase a new VW Golf GTI TCR as its operational vehicle.

Thorsten Willems explains more about the project in the following interview:
