The district administration of Ahrweiler has approved the race, taking into account the hygiene concept developed by the organizer community VLN and the Institute for Hygiene and Public Health of the University Hospital Bonn. The first race of the season will run over the distance of four hours, with the starting lights switching to green as usual at 12 noon.

The managing director of VLN VV GmbH & Co.KG is relieved.

Christian Stephani: "We are glad that races can finally take place again. This is positive news for our participants and the entire region around the Nürburgring. Our efforts in recent weeks to develop a convincing and coherent hygiene concept for the races have paid off. With the current Corona Control Ordinance of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, which allows competition in non-contact sports again, the way is clear for races in the Green Hell."

Spectator seats remain empty
Fans of the racing series, on the other hand, will have to be patient for a while, as spectators are not yet planned for the opening race. The grandstands at the Grand Prix circuit and the spectator areas around the Nordschleife will remain closed for the time being. The VLN appeals to fans to be patient and follow the races via the livestream and other channels.

Soon to start
The VLN has already communicated to the teams first details of the concept for the realization of the race operation, which was developed among others together with the DMSB and the ILN (Interessengemeinschaft Langstrecke Nürburgring). Further details will be published in the next few days.

Before the first race of the Nürburgring Endurance Series will finally see the teams competing for victories again, the teams will have another opportunity to prepare for the eight-race season on the practice and set-up day on June 15.
