Talented team-mate for Buemi: Alex Albon proved his speed in GP3 and is now one of the best in Formula 2.

Nissan takes over from Renault in the FIA Formula E Championship. DAMS and its e.dams division from France will continue to be the team.

Former Renault driver Sébastien Buemi was set as the driver. Now his new team-mate in place of Nicolas Prost is also known.

Alex Albon may be a Formula E rookie, but he has proven his speed in other racing series. The British-Thai talent finished second in the GP3 series in 2016. In this year's Formula 2 season, the 22-year-old currently ranks third with three victories.

Sébastien Buemi makes his first appearance in a Nissan outfit and with a new helmet. The Swiss is the most successful driver in Formula E.

Much is new even for record holder Buemi
Albon will be able to learn a lot from Sébastien Buemi. The soon-to-be 30-year-old from Vaud won the title in the 2015/16 season.

In terms of victories, consecutive victories, victories in a season, pole positions, fastest race laps, races finished in the points and leading kilometers, Buemi leads the success statistics of all Formula E drivers.

Sébastien Buemi: "Season number five marks a new beginning for me in many respects. So much is new - the car, the race format, the venues. I'm looking forward to continuing to work with e.dams and bringing the excitement of Nissan's world-leading e-technology to motorsport fans around the world."

In an interview with Nissan TV, Buemi talks about his new challenge and his first experiences with the new Nissan Formula E and the team.

Presentation of the new Formula E racing car at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show
Nissan is the first Japanese manufacturer in the FIA Formula E. At the Geneva Motor Show last March, they were also the first to present the futuristic second-generation electric racing car (Gen2) to the media and then to the general public.

In its new sporty commitment, Nissan is relying on its many years of experience in electromobility, above all with the world's best-selling electric car. The Nissan Leaf has sold more than 350,000 units worldwide since its launch in 2010.

The fifth season will begin on December 15, 2018 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
