With the experienced Bernese, the newly formed factory team will start testing at the beginning of 2019 in preparation for the sixth season of FIA Formula E, which begins in a year's time. Porsche is currently eagerly awaiting receipt of the first unit chassis so that it can install the in-house developed powertrain that has already been tested on the test bench.
For the new Head of Porsche Motorsport (from 2019), Jani's commitment is a logical step.
Fritz Enzinger: "Neel is undoubtedly the right man for our new, technologically forward-looking program. He not only brings a lot of speed with him, but also great monoposto experience, has already driven Formula E and is also an established figure as a development driver for us in Weissach."

Looking forward to the new task
For the Le Mans winner and 2016 World Endurance Champion, this is a wish come true.
Neel Jani: "I'm really looking forward to the new task. Being part of a brand new Porsche motorsport project from the very beginning for the second time means a lot to me. The technical and driving challenges are great. The strong competition in Formula E has a considerable head start in terms of experience. We have a lot of work ahead of us. I can hardly wait for the roll-out."
