Müller: heading to Marrakesh with confidence 🎥

MEXICO-PECH HACKED OFF At the last race in Mexico, Nico Müller was well on his way to scoring his first points in Formula E. The driver from Bern wants to get them on Saturday in Morocco, where he knows his way around. Qualifying eighth and starting seventh, Nico's first championship points in the course of the fourth race of the season in Mexico City [...]

In front of packed grandstands in Mexico, a lot would have been possible for Nico Müller in terms of pure speed. The two golden DS Techeetahs, which finished in second and fourth place, were still behind him here (Photos: Dragon Racing/Jamie Sheldrick).

Qualifying eighth and starting seventh, the first championship points were within Nico Müller's grasp during the fourth race of the season in Mexico City. A problem in the energy management software of the Penske EV-4 from Geox Dragon Racing meant the beginning of a premature end.

Nico Müller: "In the duel with Nick de Vries, the car didn't brake as it should have because of that. I was almost past him when I hit the grass and the car skidded. I then crashed head-on into the wall. But it looked worse than it was."

More happiness after your 28th birthday?
The positive thing was that the 28-year-old from Blumenstein, who turned 28 on February 25, now has the certainty of being able to ride in the front field.

Nico Müller: "We were able to set an initial exclamation mark. We can build on that. In addition to technical difficulties, we haven't had the necessary luck on our side so far. Formula E is so competitive that you need this as the only private team - which you must never forget."

The long trip to Mexico did not pay off for Nico Müller in terms of points. However, he now knows what is possible.

On familiar terrain for the first time
As a belated birthday present, Müller would like nothing more than to score his first points this coming Saturday. He knows the Circuit International Automobile Moulay El Hassan in Marrakesh from the rookie test drives, where he set the absolute fastest lap time with Audi two years ago.

He is now taking the circuit in North Africa under his racing wheels for the first time. From Monday until his departure on Wednesday afternoon ("I also spent my birthday in the dark room"), the Swiss prepared in the simulator at the company headquarters in Silverstone.

Müller therefore feels better prepared than ever before.

Nico Müller: "Driving on new tracks all the time doesn't make things easy for us rookies (including Porsche driver Neel Jani, editor's note). That's why it's good to have some initial references. After we were able to show our pace for the first time in Mexico, the whole team is now fully motivated and confident."

Live on two German-language channels
The fifth round of the championship, which starts at 3 p.m., will be broadcast live on the Swiss sports channel MySports One on Saturday, February 29, from 2.25 to 4.25 p.m. with preliminary reports and subsequent analysis. Eurosport 1 and ARD will also report with German commentary.
