Jeffrey Schmidt is an amazing young man. The 24-year-old from Liestal has his own management agency and raises hundreds of thousands of francs a year to finance racing. With cleverness and negotiating skills, Jeffrey Schmidt has also managed to get the TV station Telebasel, which is distributed throughout Switzerland, to broadcast all the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland races from Hockenheim onwards, first directly and then in repeats. At his home race, he put himself in the best possible light with a third-place finish on Saturday and a commanding victory on Sunday: "After I had so much bad luck at the season opener in Oschersleben, this success does me good. It means I'm gaining a few points on the championship leaders.
Double program for the Supercup in Spain
Next weekend, things will continue abruptly for him. For the first time in 2016, the driver from Basel will contest a complete double program with the Carrera Cup and Supercup, which starts on Sunday as part of the Spanish GP. In the oldest international one-make cup, the number of participants is slightly higher than in Germany. For Schmidt, however, nothing changes in terms of his objective: "The level is high in both championships, and I want to fight for the title in both."
