Motorsport: Welcome, Charlie Martin!

This weekend's Gurnigel hill climb not only has an excellent national turnout. Charlie Martin, who has acquired a taste for the beautiful Swiss races in St-Ursanne, is traveling all the way from England. An unusual hobby: Charlie Martin loves challenging hill climbs, not just the hills in England, and she is looking forward to the start on the Gurnigel.

Charlie Martin has been racing in the French mountain championship for two years now, and last year she took part in her first Swiss mountain race at the invitation of Fabien Bouduban and Jean-Jacques Maitre from the Jura, who also often race in France, in St-Ursanne. "They told me about the Gurnigel. It's a riders-only course and it sounded so interesting that I wanted to find out for myself," the 35-year-old from Leicestershire told us. The British rider knows Switzerland from vacationing with friends in French-speaking Switzerland. "Because I speak French, I feel at home here," she reveals. "As the racing season will soon be over, I didn't have to think twice about driving this incredible sports car again."

A strong debut: In St-Ursanne, Charlie Martin drove the Norma M20 FC from Team Faggioli for the first time and finished 47th overall out of 185 riders with impressive times.

Who will win the valuable Graham watches?
With the 280 hp Norma-Honda from the team of European champion Simone Faggioli, Charlie Martin has the best chance of becoming the best classified lady straight away. If she manages this, which should be no problem against Vanessa Zenklusen's IS-Subaru, she will win the first-ever special prize in the form of a 5000-franc Graham wristwatch. Whoever wins the day (Eric Berguerand, who would then be the 2016 Swiss champion, or Marcel Steiner?) will receive a watch worth 10,000 francs.
