Motorsport: Four BMW factory entries for Delétraz

AutoSprintCH hinted at it in its online story about the Renault F1 Academy on February 4, but now it is clear: Louis Delétraz, who is sponsored by Renault in formula racing, will drive a BMW M6 GT3 from Schubert Motorsport in at least four ADAC GT Masters events for the time being. The season kicks off in Oschersleben on April 16/17. The 18-year-old [...]

The 18-year-old from Geneva was the best driver from BMW Motorsport's junior development program last year and can now reap the rewards of his success. His team partner is Jesse Krohn, who was awarded this honor in 2014 and will complete the entire season with Schubert. Further BMW commitments depend on Delétraz's racing car program, as the Frenchman is concentrating on the Formula 3.5 V8 (formerly Formula Renault 3.5 World Series). As insiders no longer give this racing series much of a chance after the split with Renault, the BMW contract is all the more valuable for Delétraz.

GT opportunity for Swiss talent
Many see the young talent in a DTM cockpit in the foreseeable future, as a Swiss driver would also fit in well for marketing reasons. "Louis is one of the greatest talents in formula racing, and I have every confidence that he will make a quick transition to a GT3 car," says Schubert team manager Timo Frings positively. Delétraz tested with BMW for the first time last week and is thoroughly enthusiastic: "A lot of things will be new for me, but I am sure that it will be a great season with the support of BMW Motorsport. I will also benefit a lot from the experience of the other BMW drivers. The M6 GT3 is a fantastic race car, the feeling in the cockpit is great. It's a great feeling and a privilege to be supported and courted by two manufacturers as a young driver."

Louis Delétraz will be joined in the ADAC GT Masters by a number of fellow Swiss drivers. Rahel Frey, for example, will be completing her third season in the Yaco team with Philip Geipel in a new Audi R8 LMS. Remo Lips also remains loyal to the German RWT private team in a Corvette Z06 GT3. In addition, AutoSprintCH has it on good authority that another talented young Swiss driver will soon be announced as a member of a renowned team. We will stay tuned!
