Motorsport: Surprises at the 2016 finale
At the finale of the Swiss Kart Championship sponsored by autobau in Lignières, ex-GP2 champion Fabio Leimer secured one of the five championship titles. In the top class KZ2 there was almost an unexpected end. For Loïc Vindice, the final in the approximately 50-hp KZ2 karts seemed to be just a formality. For Loïc Vindice, the final in the 50-hp KZ2 karts seemed to be just a matter of form. But Loïc Vindice was unable to cope at all on the fast and wet TCS circuit and finished at the back of the field in the two heats. Meanwhile, André Reinhard made up a lot of points with a win and a second place. Finally, the challenger only finished fifth in the final, so Loïc Vindice could breathe a sigh of relief after a modest ninth place: "That wasn't my weekend, but now only the title counts." DR driver Philippe Kissling, who has only been racing in KZ2 for a year, celebrated his first win of the day.
In no other class were the top drivers as close together as in the Iame X30 Challenge. With a second place in the first heat, Norick Lehner slightly extended the lead in the standings to Hicham Mazou, but at the start of the second heat he was forced off the track in the general turmoil and retired. In sixth place, Hicham Mazou had exactly the same number of points as Norick Lehner before the final! With a super start, Norick Lehner soon put himself in front in the decisive race and thus celebrated his first championship title ahead of Mazou, who finished fifth.

Fabio Leimer crowns karting comeback with title win
In the new OK-Senior class, the leader of the standings, Fabio Leimer, didn't show the slightest sign of weakness and was practically the champion after the second of the three rounds. "Everything worked out perfectly. I'm very happy, because until last spring I hadn't been in a kart for ten years," said the delighted 2013 GP2 champion. In the Iame X30 Junior class, title favorite Savio Moccia was also untouchable and clearly decided all three rounds in his favor.
In the Super Mini junior class, Elia Sperandio did not finish above midfield positions in any of the three races. In the first race, a fifth place was enough for Alessio Fagone to win the title. The fact that he did not finish higher than 10th in the final, which was won by Antonio Lagrotteria, no longer mattered. In the championship, Sperandio dropped back to fourth behind Shannon Lugassy and Samir Ben.
