Without any experience in karting, Ellis won the 2011 LO Formula Lista Junior Championship at the first attempt and was already promoted to the Formula 3 Euro Series as a result. Despite respectable results as a newcomer, Ellis had to end the season early for budget reasons. Last fall, he won one of the 20 starting slots for the Audi Sport TT Cup when he beat 125 candidates from 36 nations.
Two Cup races will be held for the first time in the run-up to the Nürburgring 24 Hours on the legendary Nordschleife, while the other six TT double rounds will be held as part of the DTM weekends. As the son of a British father and a German mother, Ellis, who speaks Swiss German in everyday life, will compete under the British flag.
He receives support outside the racing cockpit, among others, from Customized Sports Management GmbH, an agency based in Worb, near Bern, that looks after the marketing and welfare of professional racing drivers and their sponsor partners.
