Motorsport: Kris Richard starts in Luxembourg

Faces two big challenges: Kris Richard first competes in the Benelux Championship, after which he will be going for the ETCC title.

You don't get an offer like this every day. Through Honda Switzerland, Kris Richard will be able to take part in the TCR Benelux Championship races in Colmar-Berg next weekend. The Goodyear tire test track near the capital will host a total of four 20-minute sprint races and a one-hour endurance race with driver changes.

The Honda Civic TCR will be entered by the renowned Boutsen Ginion Racing team. Richard will support Belgian Stéphane Lémeret, who leads the championship with this car. The points scored in Richard's sprint races will be credited to the account of Lémeret, who will also drive alone twice himself.

Team and color change: In the ETCC Richard drives for Rikli Motorsport, this weekend he takes a seat in this Honda Civic TCR from Boutsen Ginion Racing.

The fans determine the starting grid
In the endurance race, Lémeret and Richard then take turns at the wheel. The special thing about it is not only the race duration, but also the starting grid: This is determined on the basis of an online vote (Make the Grid, see below for address), i.e. a vote on the Internet via Facebook. Previous partners of Lémeret were the Honda factory drivers Tiago Monteiro and Norbert Michelisz as well as BTCC champion Matt Neal. Richard may therefore consider this commitment as a first reward for his top performances in the ETCC.

"For me, of course, this is super preparation for the ETCC finale, where I can also gain further racing experience with a TCR car," says the 22-year-old from Berne, looking forward to the event. Richard contested his last ETCC race on July 10 at Magny Cours. Since then, he only got to drive again last weekend during tests with the Rikli-Honda at Imola. The 2016 ETCC title will be awarded there on October 2.
