Motorsport: Jean-Paul von Burg stayed cool

At the third race event of the Swiss Porsche clubs on the beautiful mountain-and-valley circuit of Mugello in Tuscany, the drivers worked up a nice sweat in the summer heat. After work, pleasure: In the Porsche Sports Cup, it's not just the battle on the race track that counts, but also the socializing among like-minded people.

In the Challenge, which was contested by nothing but Porsche 991 GT3 Cup cars from Group 5d, Oliver Ditzler took the best starting position ahead of Ernst Keller and Jean-Paul von Burg. But already in the first race of the GT3 Cup Challenge Von Burg established the almost usual ranking. Although he briefly lost a place to Luca Casella in the course of the first lap, the defending champion soon took the lead and never relinquished it. Keller also passed Ditzler, but was unable to catch up with the leader.

The second sprint race in temperatures of up to 35 degrees was also won by Jean-Paul von Burg from pole position ahead of Keller and Ditzer. In the sprints of the other classes, which use modified GT3 Cup cars, Andreas Corradina secured victory twice with his 991 GT3 Cup in Group 7a, each time ahead of Gregor Burkard and Enrico di Leo, both on 997 GT3 Cup.

Fireworks at the front: Oliver Ditzler was unable to hold on to the lead for long in the first race of the GT3 Cup Challenge before Jean-Paul von Burg and Ernst Keller overtook him.

The Nürburgring specialist prevailed
In the Porsche Sports Cup, the fastest drivers dominated with their new Cayman GT4 Clubsport. Ivan Jacoma from Ticino, who has been steeled from many VLN races at the Nürburgring, took pole position with a clear best time and then also the victory ahead of Heinz Bruder. In the first sprint Patrick Meystre passed two competitors and finished third. Thanks to Jacoma's triumph, Adriano Pan was allowed to start at the front in the second race with the same car. However, he was unable to match the best times set and had to settle for 7th place. Bruder took the win ahead of Meystre and Eric Schmid. In the Porsche Driver's Challenge, which is based on uniformity, Martin Schneider with his 911 GT3 was the most regular of all 16 participants.
