Motorsport: Favorites win in Reitnau and Chamblon

The second weekend with simultaneous SM runs on the mountain and in the slalom ended with the same winners. As already in Hemberg, Eric Berguerand won also in Reitnau. In Chamblon, Philip Egli circled the pylons the fastest. For the first time in this racing season, the participants experienced a completely dry racing day - summer sends its regards! Two experts congratulate each other: Philip Egli (left) and Martin Bürki were in top form at the slalom in Chamblon to the delight of the spectators.

For the first time in this racing season, the players experienced a completely dry race day - summer sends its regards! The crowd in Reitnau was correspondingly large, where Eric Berguerand pulled out all the stops to keep Joël Volluz at bay once again. With two clear fastest times on the 1600 meter sprint track, the defending champion in the Lola FA99-Cosworth secured the day's victory with a 2.12 second lead over his challenger from the Valais in the Osella FA30.

Another outstanding performance was delivered by Thomas Amweg, who finished third overall in the Dallara-Mercedes F3, leaving the more powerful cars of Marcel Steiner (LobArt-Mugen), Christian Balmer (Tatuus-Honda) and Simon Hugentobler (Reynard F3000) behind. For Marcel Steiner it was the first countable Swiss result with the Italian sports car. Reto Meisel achieved the first ever finish with the Mercedes SLK 340 he developed himself, setting a new track record in Group E1 on the way to overall touring car victory. Behind him, Roger Schnellmann narrowly kept the upper hand over Ronnie Bratschi this time.

First finish in record time: Reto Meisel thrilled the Reitnau audience with his drive in the specially developed Mercedes SLK 340.

Martin Bürki and Philip Egli again without blemish

On the selective Chamblon course (4.3 kilometers, 66 gates) Philip Egli and Martin Bürki also showed their class. Marcel Maurer put Philip Egli under pressure as usual, but in the repeat of the first run as a result of a spin by Augustin Sanjuan (Dallara F3), who had started in front of him, the tires on the Formula Renault were already greasing too much to come close to Philip Egli's submitted best time. Although Maurer improved in the second run, he was unable to prevent the Zurich driver's third Chamblon stage win in the Dallara-Opel F3.

Martin Bürki was also masterful in the touring cars. After an initial best time, he took more risks and achieved the fourth fastest time in the VW Polo 1600. Only technology seems to be able to prevent the Bernese from winning his fourth slalom title. Second and third in the touring cars were Christian Darani (Fiat X1/9) and Manuel Santonastaso (BMW 320).
