Emil Frey & Toyota Swiss Racing on the grid at VLN 2016
At the presentation of the Emil Frey Racing Team and its specially developed Emil Frey Jaguar G3 for the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup (season start on April 24 in Monza), this topic did not officially come up, but it was in the air. The Swiss Lexus importer will continue to enter a Lexus RC F GT3 in the VLN Championship at the Nürburgring in cooperation with Ring Racing from Germany. As in the Blancpain endurance races, the drivers will be team boss Lorenz Frey and his new driver Stéphane Ortelli from Monaco.
A second Lexus GT3 will again be sent into the VLN races by Farnbacher Racing with the fast brothers Mario and Dominik Farnbacher. Both teams are tasked with testing new vehicle components and providing direct feedback to TTC/TRD, the manufacturer of the cars. The objective of TTC/TRD is to offer a powerful and reliable race car for sale to interested teams once the development program has been completed.
Amweg/Lampert again in the TMG86 Cup
At the first VLN race next Saturday, the Emil Frey/Ring Racing team will only use the set-up runs from Friday evening to test the Lexus GT3. "Our goal is to cover as many test kilometers as possible and to test the various modifications that have been incorporated into the cars during the winter break, as well as to confirm or even improve on last year's results," says Hannes Gautschi of Lexus Switzerland.
Gautschi is also the head of Toyota Swiss Racing, which, as in 2015, will set a strong Swiss accent in the TMG86 Cup with the Toyota GT86 of Manuel Amweg and Thomas Lampert. Last year, Amweg/Lampert fought until the very end for second place in the Cup, which they ultimately just missed out on. In addition, Toyota Swiss Racing took the class win at the Nürburgring 24 Hours for the third time in a row.
