Motorsport: "Edo" is now a real Swiss
Nico Müller is no longer the only Swiss driver in the DTM. Geneva-born Edoardo Mortara has had the red passport since the end of June. Because Audi wants it that way, "Edo" will probably continue to compete as an Italian. Edoardo Mortara was born in Geneva on January 12, 1987, the son of an Italian and a Frenchwoman. On January 12, 1987, Edoardo Mortara was born in Geneva to an Italian father and a French mother. Edo" has never lived anywhere else, but as the holder of an Italian and a French passport he was never considered Swiss. After a long wait, Mortara received his red passport with the white cross in June. When he won the first race at the Norisring on June 25, he had it fresh in his pocket, only no one knew it. One day later, Nico Müller claimed his first DTM triumph. "It's a nice feeling, after all I've been living in Geneva for 29 years," the Audi factory driver commented on his naturalization. He was happy to give up his French passport in return, especially since he has never felt French. In racing, however, the professional has appeared as an Italian since the beginning of his career, and this has remained the case since he switched to the Swiss ASS license two years ago.

After family happiness, now the hunt for the DTM title
The Geneva native has been married to a Spanish-British dual citizen for two years and became the father of a daughter named Sofia on July 19, 2016. All that's missing for perfect happiness is a DTM title. He is the only driver so far to have won two races in 2016. In the standings, Edoardo Mortara occupies third place behind Marco Wittmann (BMW) and Audi colleague Jamie Green. With a 17-point gap, anything is still possible with eight races to go - the next two are scheduled for the weekend in Moscow - especially since Audi now has the six other drivers driving for Jamie Green and Edoardo Mortara.
