Motorsport: DTM feeling in Hemberg
In four weeks, the 2016 Hill-Climb Championship will begin at Hemberg. More than 200 drivers have registered for the fifth edition of the hill-climb race, which was revived in 2012. Rahel Frey will cause a stir with an Audi A4 DTM. For Christian Schmid, who in 2005 provided the initial spark for the revival of the mountain race in Toggenburg, which had not been held since 1991, a dream became a wonderful reality four years ago. Under his OC presidency, the first new edition took place in September 2012 after seven years of preparatory work. And on June 11/12, he and his 400 or so helpers who are somehow involved in the organization are already celebrating the first small anniversary.
Since 2013, Hemberg has also been the kick-off event for the Swiss Mountain Championship, which can be looked forward to with particular excitement this year. With 207 registered drivers from Switzerland and neighboring countries, interest is greater than ever before. With defending champion Eric Berguerand in the Lola, challenger Joël Volluz in the Osella, Marcel Steiner in the new LobArt and Simon Hugentobler in the Reynard, four of the fastest Swiss drivers of three-liter racing sports cars have entered.

Demonstration drives by Rahel Frey in the DTM Audi
The show program is also a treat. The focus will be on Rahel Frey, who will drive the Audi A4 driven by the Swede Mattias Ekström in the 2009 DTM up the hill several times at a brisk pace. This car comes from the collection of Fredy Lienhards autobau in Romanshorn. Frey himself raced with Audi in the DTM in 2011 and 2012. The 1200 hp Villiger Race Truck from Egon Allgäuer will also provide action.
For three days, the picturesque village of Hemberg will be transformed into a festival hut with an integrated paddock. Those arriving by public transport or using one of the remote parking lots will be transported to the race site by shuttle buses free of charge. Tickets with advance booking discount can be ordered online now.
