Kurt Böhlen, who likes rain and the ultra-fast Salzburgring anyway, qualified for pole position in both Formula 3 races with his lap times in the wet. On Saturday, on what was now a dry track, Sandro Zeller in the family team's Dallara-Mercedes immediately took the lead after both starts and extended it to around 19 seconds at the finish. With his fourth double victory in five events, the driver from Zurich secured the 2016 Remus Formula 3 Cup ahead of time and also the Swiss Formula 3 Cup, which is organized by series organizer Franz Wöss for the Swiss.
First victory for Sando Zeller in the Dallara-Opel in Formula 3
Behind Sandro Zeller, Kurt Böhlen fought a thrilling duel with the Austrian Mario Schopper in both races, which he won once and lost once. After being the only driver from the leading group at the Lausitzring in mid-July and taking his first victory in Formula 3 with his Dallara-Opel, the Bernese driver took over second place in the standings from Paolo Brajnik with the other podium finishes at the Salzburgring. The Italian only managed a fifth place in Austria after accidents in practice and the second race. Marcel Tobler (Dallara-Mercedes) finished fourth twice. Urs Rüttimann, who made his comeback in the penultimate race in Hockenheim after a long break from racing, improved to P5 in the second race.

There is no way around Thomas Amweg in the PRC Honda
In the Sports Car Challenge, Thomas Amweg was faster in the rain training with the PRC Honda from the two-liter class than all the horsepower cars from the big division. After the starts, however, the fastest drivers immediately out-accelerated him, but he only saw his class opponents in the rear-view mirror. "As in Hockenheim, the engine was now running perfectly, apparently the wiring harness was the problem before. So I was able to show what I'm capable of with the sports car," reported the man from Aargau with satisfaction after his double victory.
After finishing second in the first race, Turi Breitenmoser was only able to finish the second race in fifth gear in his PRC-Ford F1 after leading for a long time. Due to the starting accident of three direct opponents, he still finished third overall behind Thomas Amweg. His team-mate Simon Stoller finished second twice in the two-liter class and, unlike Thomas Amweg, still has a chance of winning the Division 2 title.
