Motorsport: The sweet revenge of Sébastien Buemi

After Abt's victory at the eGrand Prix in Paris, the Renault team turned the tables at the Germans' home race: Sébastien Buemi celebrated a brilliant victory in Berlin and now has the best chances of winning the title. Successful revenge: In the eighth race in Berlin, Sébastien Buemi clinched his third victory of the season. Now he's duking it out for the title with Lucas di Grassi.

The spectators in the sold-out grandstands along the 2.03-kilometer street circuit in the heart of Berlin frenetically celebrated German Daniel Abt's second place, but the man of the day was Sébastien Buemi. After having to relinquish pole position by only 16 thousandths to Jean-Eric Vergne from DS Virgin Racing, he snatched the lead from him as early as the first corner. The Frenchman briefly regained it before the Frenchman staked his claim to victory with a successful braking maneuver.

Buemi had not been able to win with the factory Renault since the third round in Uruguay in December. As there was no internal ranking at Abt and Daniel Abt was given precedence over Lucas di Grassi, Sébastien Buemi moved to within one point of the Brazilian in the championship. "The Germans won in Paris, now we've won with them in return," the Swiss teased. "It was an almost perfect day. It's just a shame that I didn't manage to get the two extra points for the fastest race lap at the end because I had to watch my available energy."

Public success: Around 15,000 spectators followed the Berlin race at the track. Here, Sébastien Buemi leads ahead of Jean-Eric Vergne, who later dropped to fifth place, and Daniel Abt.

Simona de Silvestro scores again
The final will take place on July 2 and 3 with two races in London. There are still 60 points up for grabs. As the Briton Sam Bird in third place is already 59 and 58 behind the two leaders of the standings, practically only Lucas di Grassi and Sébastien Buemi are still in contention for the title. In the team classification Renault e.Dams leads by eleven points ahead of Abt Schaeffler Audi Sport. Simona de Silvestro also delivered a strong performance. In ninth place she equaled her best result so far at Long Beach and scored points for the second time.
