Motorsport: Oberhallau hill climb with 250 starters

In keeping with the weather, the race track in Oberhallau will also be hot this coming weekend, August 27 and 28, 2016. The hill climb in Schaffhausen's Klettgau region will feature a full field of participants. Around 250 drivers have registered. Separate opponents and colleagues: Eric Berguerand (left) is now the clear favorite for the championship, while his challenger Joël Volluz has to take a longer forced break.

Around 250 riders have registered. Unfortunately, two of the fastest Swiss drivers will be missing from the start. The Osella FA30 of last year's winner Joël Volluz was completely destroyed in the accident in St-Ursanne, which fortunately was not too serious for him. Eric Berguerand with his Lola FA99 is therefore the lone favorite for the day's victory, with which he would take an important step towards the championship title. The battle for victory in the sports car category between multiple national champions Marcel Steiner from Oberdiessbach and Uwe Lang from Germany promises to be more exciting. Foreign drivers make up around a fifth of the field. Oberhallau is part of the German KW Berg Cup, which means that there will also be an exciting comparison between the fastest Swiss and German touring car drivers.

Fast monster from Germany: multiple KW Hillclimb Cup winner Holger Hovemann with his Opel Kadett C V8. The sound of the car is in a class of its own.

Two special racing touring cars from Opel
Unless a technical problem with the Mercedes SLK 340 prevents him from doing so, Reto Meisel will pulverize the touring car record held by Toni Büeler in a Mitsubishi since 2012. Victory in Group E1 would put him at the top of the touring car championship table in the absence of Ronnie Bratschi (engine failure on the Mitsubishi). The Opel Kadett GT/E with Chevrolet V8 engine driven by German Holger Hovemann, who won the DM race in Hauenstein last weekend, is also visually and acoustically unique.

The drifters from Drift Team Switzerland will provide entertainment between the races. Jasmin Preisig from Appenzell will be demonstrating her 330 hp Opel Astra TCR, which she drives in Germany, to the Swiss audience.
