Mille Miglia 2022: A thousand extremely tough miles 🎥
COMEBACK Until June 18, the field of noble classics is on the road on the demanding 1600 kilometers (1000 Miglia) between Brescia and Rome. Ellen Lohr and Karl Wendlinger are driving in the historic SL.
After a two-year break, Mercedes-Benz Classic is once again competing in the 1000 Miglia in Italy. At the same time, the long-distance classic is the anniversary drive of the SL sports car.
70 years ago, the Mille Miglia was the premiere venue for the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL racing sports car, the brand's first newly developed competition vehicle after the World War.
Anniversary and premiere of the new SL
Parallel to the 70th anniversary, the new Mercedes-AMG SL makes its debut at the Mille Miglia. With its classic soft top, it blends seamlessly into the glittering history. At the same time, the new roadster is also fully suitable for everyday use and now brings its performance to the road with all-wheel drive.
The technology highlights also include the Active Ride Control chassis with roll stabilization and rear-axle steering. Drive is provided by the 4-liter V8 biturbo engine from Affalterbach.
400 vehicles at the start this year
Until June 18, about 400 vehicles take the 1600 kilometers through the beautiful landscapes between Brescia and Rome under the wheels.
Hundreds of thousands of spectators wait at the side of the track to celebrate the cars of the period from 1927 to 1957, because only classic cars whose types have proven themselves in the original race in this era are allowed to participate in the modern 1000 Miglia.
Prominent Mercedes-Benz drivers

Mercedes-Benz has been supporting the 1000 Miglia for many years.
Marcus Breitschwerdt: "The challenging event and Mercedes-Benz as the oldest car manufacturer in the world as well as automotive heritage partner of the 1000 Miglia complement each other perfectly."
