The signing of Louis Delétraz was a foregone conclusion. Following the final race of the 2019/20 cross-season in Bahrain, the 22-year-old Geneva native is likely to complete the rookie test with Rebellion Racing. In the process, the Formula 2 driver made a good trap.
First Swiss after Neel Jani
Since the departure of Neel Jani for Porsche Formula E, no Swiss driver has made it to the starting lineup. Now Louis Delétraz fills this gap.
The Swiss-flagged team from England will field a second Rebellion R-13 with him, Frenchman Nathanaël Berthon and two-time Le Mans winner Romain Dumas, who lives in Arzier VD, at the Spa 6 Hours (April 25) and the season finale at Le Mans in mid-June.
The regular car with start number #1 continues to be driven by Bruno Senna, Gustavo Menezes and Norman Nato.
Concentration on formula 2
Before that, Delétraz will tackle his fourth season in FIA Formula 2. As none of the Formula 1 races overlap with the WEC, his first foray into endurance racing is possible without concessions.
His father Jean-Louis Delétraz competed a total of nine times at Le Mans. In 2001 and 2002, he celebrated two class victories in the LMP2 predecessor category with a Reynard Volkswagen.
