Lignières: A race weekend in September 🎥
PILOT PROJECT After the cancellation in April, the Swiss Legends Racing club race in Lignières was not scheduled to take place until 2021. The TCS circuit of Lignières will be opened for automobile sports on the second weekend of September. The short video of Sydeness Filmografia shows it from the bird's eye view.
Actually, this new club race was supposed to take place on the third weekend of April 2020. But the Corona pandemic forced the organizers to cancel or postpone it to 2021.
Start to the race season of Swiss Legends Racing
Now TCS Training & Events, which operates the small circuit at the foot of the Chasseral as a road safety center, and the Swiss Legends Racing association have found a replacement date for this year after all. So there will now be a new two-day, license-free Swiss motorsport event on September 12 and 13, 2020.
For the drivers of the Swiss Legends Cars as well as for the club and the AMIS de Lignières, it counts towards the 2020 annual championship. The season of the Swiss Legends Cars already starts this weekend with a time trial on the Circuit de Bresse in bordering France.
How the small, nippy Swiss Legends Cars sound, gives the short film of BRV - video from the mountain race Gurnigel 2019 again. There they drove along for the demonstration.
A slalom and a time trial
On Saturday, September 12, a slalom is scheduled for the whole day, followed by a time trial on the other day, with the circuit being defused with braking chicanes.
The drivers can drive freely within a given time window. The fastest laps of each rider will be scored. A maximum of 80 riders may start for the slalom, 100 for the time trial, whereby double starts are permitted.
Allowed are registered road vehicles, as well as electric cars of the new category LE1 and racing vehicles according to their series regulations, whose noise level does not exceed 95 decibels. A valid driving license is sufficient for participation, but a day license can be purchased for insurance protection.
Pilot project with spectators
With Sepp Ludin as race director and René Kappeler as course director, two experienced officials are at the helm of the event.
Admission will be free for spectators. Only ten francs per vehicle and day will be charged for parking.
For the organizing partners, the whole thing represents a pilot project. If it meets with widespread interest, it could become an LOC and REG event or even a round of the Swiss Slalom Championship as early as 2021. For the time being, the primary goal of the organizers is to offer cost-effective motorsport for their club members in their own country.
