LA Auto Show: Porsche shows the new 911 Dakar 🎥

COMEBACK At the LA Auto Show, Porsche is presenting a special world premiere until November 27. The new 911 Dakar proves that there is still plenty of room for improvement for the concept of this sports car.

Porsche's first overall victory in the Paris-Dakar Rally was achieved in 1984, for the first time with all-wheel drive in the Porsche 911, which is why the new 911 Dakar is offered with an optional rally design package reminiscent of the winning car.

What immediately catches the eye on the new 911 Dakar is the 50 millimeters higher ground clearance. In addition, the lift system can raise the front and rear of the car by a further 30 millimeters.

The Porsche 911 Dakar comes with wheel arch extensions as standard.

Reinforced tires for hard use
The sporty off-road appearance is matched by the special tires for hard use of the type Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus, at the front as 245/45 ZR 19, at the rear as 295/40 ZR 20. The coarse tread, the reinforced sidewalls and the treads consist of two carcass layers. Pirelli P Zero summer and winter tires are available as an option, also reinforced. The all-terrain tire, which also offers sports car-typical dynamics on asphalt, is fitted as standard.

100 km/h from a standstill in 3.4 seconds
The 3-liter biturbo six-cylinder with 480 hp and a maximum torque of 570 Nm delivers superior performance with the typical emotional boxer sound. From a standstill the car accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, the top speed is limited to 240 km/h due to the all-terrain tires.

As standard, the engine is coupled to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive. In addition, the rear-axle steering, the engine mounts from the 911 GT3 and the PDCC roll stabilization system are part of the standard equipment.

Special stainless steel protective elements
Other distinguishing features of the 911 Dakar, which weighs in at 1605 kilograms, are the fixed rear spoiler and the front hood adopted from the 911 GT3. Details such as the widened wheel arches and sills and the stainless steel protective elements at the front and rear are also standard. A roof basket for large objects is also included in the range.

In terms of the interior, the 911 Dakar, which remains limited to 2,500 units, underscores a sporty claim with full bucket seats and the omission of rear seats. Prices start at 268,700 Swiss francs.
