Thanks to a victory and a second place in extremely difficult weather conditions on the Bavarian Schweppermannring, Jasin Ferati is only twelve points behind last year's third-placed Luka Wlömer from Berlin, who is two years older, taking into account the scratch results. The title in the international DEKM, which attracts a great deal of media interest, will not be decided until the final event in southern Italy at the end of October. As there are still 72 points up for grabs there, the suspense will remain until the last race.
From Formula 4 to the Rotax electric kart
Just two days after his successful Formula 4 test in Magny Cours, Ferati also impressed at the wheel of the far more familiar Rotax-Thunder electric kart. A bold tire strategy in the final race in Ampfing was the key to reducing the gap to Wlömer in the overall standings. The leader relied on rain tires in light drizzle, while the runner-up ventured onto the slippery track with slicks and was not impressed when Wlömer initially pulled away at the front.
The right tire strategy
The longer the race went on, the better the rookie from Winterthur got going. Ferati took the lead at the halfway point and did not allow himself to be denied victory, although two rivals with the same tactics came dangerously close to him.
Jasin Ferati: "I already felt confident with the slicks the day before in similar conditions and consciously took the slightly bigger risk. If the rain had gotten heavier, I wouldn't have had a chance. But nothing ventured, nothing gained. Now I'm heading to Naples in good spirits, where I can make the decision in my own favor despite the difficult starting position."
The internationality is shown by the intermediate ranking before the final in Sarno: 1. Luka Wlöner (D) 245 points (minus strike results 198). 2. Jasin Ferati (CH) 217 (186). 3. Joël Sturm (D) 175 (143); 4. Bradley Barrett (GB) 173 (143). 5. Jort Coone (NL) 129 (111). 6. Chen Han Lin (Taiwan) 118 (102). 7. Benjamin Carterey (I) 112 (91); etc.
