SKM FINALE AT TCS CIRCUIT After five events, the autobau Swiss Kart Championship 2018 enters the decisive final round this weekend in Lignières. Four of the six championship titles are still up for grabs at this home round. At the penultimate round in Levier (F), André Reinhard, the clear leader in the KZ2 championship, experienced unexpected problems. The 26-year-old from Kallnach never really got going.
His lead over Hicham Mazou shrank to almost half. Mazou is 28 points behind and 75 are still up for grabs - so Reinhard can by no means be sure of anything yet. It would be the third KZ2 title for the purely privateer driver after 2012 and 2013.
Patrick Näscher can take it easy
Patrick Näscher, on the other hand, can easily travel to the TCS circuit at the foot of the Chasseral. The 23-year-old from Liechtenstein dominated the action in the OK Senior class in 2018. Last year's runner-up Pascal Von Allmen and Miklas Born are still battling it out for the runner-up title.
Alessio Fagone is also confirmed as OC Junior Champion, he will now start in the X30 Juniors due to lack of competition.
Excitement in the two X30 classes
With wins in all three races at Levier, Alain Baeriswyl took the overall lead in the X30 Challenge. Before the final in Lignières, however, he is only ten points ahead of Danny Buntschu and 14 ahead of Savio Moccia.
So anyone of this trio can become champion with a reasonably good weekend.
In the X30 Juniors even four drivers still have real and not just theoretical chances of winning the title. Eron Rexhepi is just four points ahead of last year's Super Mini champion Elia Sperandio.
Michael Sauter, only 14 points behind Rexhepi, can still dream of the title, as can Samir Ben (18 back).
A boy or a girl?
The 2018 championship title in the youngest division will go to either standings leader Shannon Lugassy or Ekaterina Luescher.
The fast girl is 26 points behind and therefore, even if she finishes at the very front, inside she can only hope for mistakes fromLugassy.
Free admission for spectators
All five classes - KZ2 Switch Kart, OK Senior, Iame X30 Challenge Switzerland, Iame X30 Junior and Super Mini will each hold two heats and one final race on Sunday.
The entrance for spectators in Lignières is free. Only for a parking place 10 francs per car will be charged.
All the final races will also be broadcast live on the Internet from 1.30 p.m. onwards.
